Improving the spectroscopic knowledge of neutral Neodymium

Abstract Laser cooling and trapping of lanthanides has opened the possibility to carry out new experiments with ultracold dipolar gases, for example quantum simulation solid state physics. To identify suitable candidates laser-cooling, it is important have a precise spectroscopic knowledge atom under consideration. Along this direction, we present here detailed modeling energy levels neutral neodymium (Nd), an element belonging left part lanthanide row, which not yet been considered laser-cooling. Using semi-empirical method implemented in Cowan suite codes, are particular able interpret more than 200 experimental NIST database both parities. The optimal set atomic parameters obtained after least-square fitting step can serve calculate radiative transition probabilities future.
